The Bean Trees

Author's Note: This is my essay for the novel The Bean Trees, the assignment was to add on to another writing prompt that I have written. I used the writing piece "It's the cycle of life" to conduct the end essay for the book. Also, In this writing piece I would like to work on how I would like to end with a sophisticated conclusion.

I drive in my old, decayed car going from house to house. I'm looking for a home for Turtle and I, hoping that we will not end up living on the streets. As I walk to a certain door where paint was chipped and a baby was crying in the background, I knew this is where I belonged.  I finally move in and the lady taught me life lessons that I will never forget. One was "It's the cycle of life". I then realized that everything in my life was a cycle, a cycle of something new.

In the novel, The Bean Trees , Taylor and Lou Ann had a great relationship with each other. When someone was feeling down, they would always make each other feel better. For example, when Angel, Lou Ann's ex-husband, told her that she would soon receive the divorce papers, all she did was cry. That was all just part of the cycle. She needed to keep going with her life and try to find someone else to love.

Even though Lou Ann and Taylor have been having a hard time with their lives, some good parts do come upon them.  When Taylor and Lou Ann take Turtle and Dwayne Ray to the park, they watch their children grow up. They swing on the swings together and slide down the slides. Just the two children growing up are part of this cycle. Soon they will be leaving them to go on their own, where they won't need their mothers to tell them what not to do.

Although Taylor and Lou Ann keep watching their children grow up right in front of them,  they still have something that's good in life.  First of all, Taylor gets to keep Turtle as her own child. Their cycle is just beginning as a family now.  Also, Lou Ann has been starting to understand how not to be afraid of everything she does. She will work towards completing the goals she has made and will never stop moving.

Lou Ann and Taylor do have a great relationship and bond with each other. Just some cycles in their lives they need to work out. When either of them is down, the other will help them be more happy and succeed what they are trying. When the quote "It's a cycle of life" is said, think of what cycles you have accomplished. Just like Taylor and Lou Ann, they will never look back. All you do is look forward in life.

  1. I think you met your goal here. You return to your thesis, and manage to use some language effectively to make the point. Well done. I would advise you to take a look at how thorough the body paragraphs are. Do you believe you exhausted any of the points you try to make? If not, you should feel compelled to return to the idea you are trying to convey, and do so as completely as possible. Your syntax is excellent, but do see the lesson on Fusion concerning subject and object case of pronouns.
